Signing Day!!

Well…she made her decision!! She’s decided to play volleyball at Chandler Gilbert Community College!!!

It’s been a long road getting to this day. It hasn’t been an easy decision. In fact, at one point she even had decided and felt at peace not ever playing indoor volleyball again. She’d had a rough few years. She was burned out mentally and physically, and the joy of the game was gone for her. She was d-o-n-e!!!!!

She’d met with a few colleges and turned them all down. Then out of the blue the coach from CGCC reached out. To our surprise she took the meeting with him. We all went to take the tour and hear what his program is all about. He’d been the assistant coach for a while and now he’s the head coach. The visit went really well. When we left, Alayna said she feels like she could feel herself getting excited to play again. This was HUGE to hear from her!

Coach asked that she get back to him at the beginning of February so he could know one way or another but basically told her he’s holding the spot for her. She is his number one pick!

The weeks flew by and it came time for her to make her final decision. She prayed, and prayed and prayed. She went to the temple. Read her patriarchal blessing over and over. She asked us our input and advice. She took this decision very seriously.

In our last conversation with her she said, “I think I know what the answer its….I’m just scared to make it.”

Boy…how many times in our lives do we feel that way in big and small life choices?

We had a good heart to heart with her and then she said, “I’m going to play.”

We are so proud of her for taking the time to really ponder this in her heart. She didn’t allow anyone or anything to sway her. She took it all to the Lord and placed it at His feet and asked Him to help her to know what would be best for her. She is so mature and she amazes me with her faith and courage!

Fast forward……

She had her Signing Ceremony today and it was so much fun celebrating her!

She doesn’t always love being the center of attention but I think she enjoyed it today! 🙂 Just look at that smile!

The most proud parents!!!
