February Beach Volleyball Recap

This is Alayna’s 1st time playing Beach and 1st game of the season!

CVHS vs Red Mountain

The game is so much different than indoor volleyball.

-Courts are smaller
-Net height is lower
-Scoring is only to 21pts instead of 25
-Coaches can’t actively coach players during sets, and they can’t call timeouts. This leaves the team to talk to each other and work out adjustments and plays between themselves.
-The ball is softer, lighter, and marginally bigger
-Teams are smaller. Two players.
-More laid back
-And weather is something you contend with

Which is something she got her first taste of at her game vs Hamilton.

A big stormfront blew in and it was so windy it was hard to control the ball. Just look at that sky!! Arizona is amazing! But her and her partner Lauren brought home the win!

It’s been fun to learn a new sport and to see Alayna continue to challenger herself with new experiences. She’s already picking it up quickly and she really loves it!
