Celtic Festival
While Alayna was wrapping up her last day at volleyball camp, Jared and I decided to check out the Celtic Festival in Flagstaff.
My maiden name is Morrison. My dad’s side of the family are from Scotland and I thought I’d be cool to check out some of my heritage & ancestry.
It’s been scortching hot here in the valley and we were hoping for some cooler weather up north, but it was 96 degrees and pretty toasty up there. We didn’t let it detour us though.
They had a lot of individual booths of family names and genealogy. I thought it was funny that they had a DeLorean there. Apparently it was made in Ireland! Ha!
They had local artists and craftsmen/women showing off their wares. I was fascinated by the spinning wheel and how they make the yarn. It was mesmerizing.
We found Morrison in a few books and banners around the festival which was exciting for me!
I found our family crest at one of the shops they had set up. I got one for my dad for a Christmas gift (shhh…don’t tell him 😛 ).
This website has some fun facts about the Morrison Clan. It’s certainly sparked my interest again to research this family line!
The boys love playing D&D and we came across this booth where they make custom matchbox sized boxes that hold dice. We had to get one for each of them. Walker chose the raven and Eli chose the bear. (Look on the bottom shelf on the right. They’re next to each other.)
They are so little! LOL!
This group was called Wicked Tinkers. They were great!
They had live music, dancers, food, vendors, all sorts of cool stuff!
We had a good (and sweaty) time. We had to stop at the gas station to grab some ice cold waters and ice cream bars to cool off afterwards. 😀
I really enjoy family history. I’m looking forward to sharing what I discovered with my family!
