We Have a New Family Member

We have a new family member! 🐶

It’s been about 2.5 years since Sammy passed away. And for about a year now Alayna and Jared have been really wanting another dog. I have been more reluctant but the last couple of months my heart has started to feel ready again.

We started looking for another Maltipoo at the end of January. Apparently, they aren’t as popular of a breed anymore. We were searching the internet every day. We found one breeder down in Tucson that we felt good about. But by the time we were ready to commit, the puppy we wanted sold!

We expanded our search to California since we were heading there for spring break. But every time we reached out either the puppy was already reserved, sold, or they were a scam. We were starting to feel very discouraged.

Then, we decided to go back to the breeder in Tucson. We felt good about her since the beginning and she had 2 different litters. She had the Maltipoos and she had another litter of Cavapoos. We researched more into Cavapoos and found that they are similar in size, personality, and allergy friendliness.

We did a video chat with her so we could see the puppy. She said he’s a total lover and he just wants to cuddled and be held. Once we saw this sweetheart we instantly fell in love!

He was born on Christmas Day 2024! Now we have 2 Christmas babies!🎄

We had to wait until we got back from our trip before we could pick him up. We put down our deposit and she said she’d hold him until we got back, which we were grateful for. But those couple of weeks were hard to wait!

We got back from California and we got to pick him up the next day. Jared was over the moon excited! It was pretty cute how excited he was.

We’d been trying to figure out what to name the cutie pie. The breeder named him Grayson which is cute but we wanted to stick with tradition and name him with a name like our other dogs had. (But I think we’ll keep it as his middle name.)

We had Jessie, Basil Mae (only for a month😢), Sassy, and Sammy.

We went several rounds with names. Below were some of the contenders.

Max
Benny
Ollie
Eddy
Winston
Ringo
Bowie

Ultimately we landed on the name Benny. And yes, the song “Benny and the Jets” constantly runs through my head when we say his name. Ha!

The pics below are right after we picked him up. Jared and Benny became instant best buddies!!

We stopped by Jared’s parents house so they could meet him and they fell in love with him too.

Brynne & Eli met us back at the house and Arden came too. Benny isn’t too sure about Arden. He’s a big dog who doesn’t know how big he is. Even though he tries so hard to be gentle. He’s still a puppy too and he’s learning.

Alayna bought Benny a cute little bow tie! She was so excited to have him wear it. He looks so dapper! 🙂

We are all pretty enamored with this fella. He’s the cuddliest cutest little guy! 💙
