Congratulations Mr. Kitch!!
Walker has started his last semester of his Master’s degree in secondary education. He recently took the content certification test for math and has been applying to the local school districts.
He’s been working for Tutor Doctor for the last couple of years tutoring students in all sorts of subjects but his bread and butter has always been math. Students struggle in math and he’s a gifted teacher. It’s been really cool to hear how after just a couple of sessions with him his students are able to turn their grades around!!
He had interviews with Mesa High, Combs High, and Williams Field High all within a week!
He actually didn’t apply with Combs but somehow they got ahold of his application (we think maybe through the Chandler school district).
He really liked Combs and Williams Field and they both offered him a position! Woohoo!!
When it came to making a decision it was “not” easy. What a great problem to have though, right!?! 😉 Both schools had great things going for them and he spent a lot of time making a pro/con list for each.
Combs was an exciting prospect as they are still growing and the SanTan Valley area is continuing to see more and more families/residence move there. He would have the opportunity to teach multiple math classes which was enticing to give his day variety. He liked the administrators and staff that he met there as well.
Ultimately, Williams Field was his pick. He will be teaching Algebra I. A big plus is that they are closer to home (half the driving time). They are an established school where he can get his feet wet his first year of teaching with experienced mentors who have been there since the school opened in 2006. He really liked the Principal and the two math heads he interviewed with. He felt very relaxed and welcomed.
I’m sure he would do well at either school. I think that’s why it was so difficult to make a decision. I’m so happy for him that he has a position lined up already, he’s wrapping up his last semester of school, and he’ll be prepared to meet the school year ready to hit the ground running!
We took him out to lunch to celebrate with his Mamaw and Pampa. We are so proud and so happy for him! He’s worked hard and he’s seeing the fruits of his efforts.
Congratulations Mr. Kitch!!!
Those kids sure are lucky to have you!
