Just a Friendly Reminder…Take Care of Your Ta-Ta’s!

A dear friend of mine was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, they caught it VERY early and she is recovering nicely after having surgery removing the lump and is now in radiation treatments. She goes every day. The treatments are short but she goes M-F and they are very wearing. She has about 10 treatments left.

The doctors told her that at the rate this cancer was moving, if it hadn’t been found for 6 months to a year, it would have been a sizable invasive cancer. I’m so very, very grateful she has been diligent getting screenings every single year!!

Needless to say, it spurred me to get in and get a mammogram. It had been 5 years since I had my last one and it was long over due!! I didn’t even realize after the age of 40 women should be getting them annually. This has definitely been a wakeup call for me.

I went in and had my screening. They found a small mass and on my left side and I had to go back in for a follow up screening. Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing. The technology they have now is so advanced that it is very common to need to go back for additional screenings because they pick up on everything. Which is good and nerve racking at the same time. LOL!!

To all of you ladies (and gentlemen) out there. Get those annual exams you have been putting off. Early detection is key to battling any illness. Stay healthy out there!
