Mr. Kitch
This is Walker’s 1st year teaching and he invited us to come help him setup and decorate his classroom. We were so excited to come see his room and help!
It’s a BIG classroom and has a nice large window! We put together a Teacher’s Wishlist on Amazon to help get him started. People were so generous and he got pretty much everything he needed!
This is before….
And after (still in progress)….
It looks a little more lived in and he’s still waiting on few of the items to be delivered. Hopefully we’ll get an updated pic from him when the rest of the posters and things arrive.
I LOVE this sign we found on Etsy for him.
We stained it to help it stand out a bit more on the wall. You can see it behind his desk in the pic above. It turned out so good!
They didn’t have his name painted above his door yet but we got his room number, a view down the hall looking at the Math Heads’ rooms, and this fun calculator with all the math teachers names on the buttons! Love it!!!
We’re so proud of Walker. He’s been working (throughout his time in college to keep his student loans to a minimum) and going to school full-time. It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication. He’s set to graduate with his Master’s in Secondary Education, August 9th!
School begins July 24th and he’s said he’s feeling like it’s not quite real yet. LOL!
We are praying that this year goes well for him. It will no doubt be challenging and he’ll gain so much knowledge and experience on the job. As with most things in life it’s in the ‘doing’ we gain the most. Working with teenagers also comes with its own set of challenges and will take some creativity and a lot of patience to reach them.
I know he’s fully up to the task. He feels he’s been ‘called’ to this work. It’s so admirable and I respect him so much for working with our youth and being a mentor to them. A lot of people think “kids these days” are a lost cause. We need good teachers and people who will help shape and guide them so they can learn, grow, and become. Seeing a child reach their full potential and be a productive contributing member of our community and society is the ultimate goal. That can’t happen without caring educators.
Good luck, Mr. Kitch!
