Happy Birthday Dad!

Yesterday we celebrated Dad’s 62nd Birthday!! (Even though his bday was on Thursday 😛 ) The whole family went over to Mom & Dad’s house and we had a good ‘ol fashioned BBQ.

Dad’s favorite dessert is blackberry cobbler. The stars aligned and blackberries were on sale this week so I whipped up a pan just for him! 😉
However, I forgot candles so we tried lighting matches….it didn’t really work. LOL! He was able to get one lit and make a wish at least. Boy my mouth is watering just thinking about that cobbler! Good thing we left the rest of it with the Birthday Boy or I would have polished it off all by myself at home.
After we were all sufficiently stuffed Mom bought all the kids kites to fly. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect that day for this fun little activity! 😀
Alayna was so excited to get out there and give it a try.
Once Jared helped her get it up in the air she became quite the kite flying expert. Her kite flew for hours!
Of course the boys and all the cousins didn’t want to be left out of the fun so they quickly got theirs put together.
Poor Eli is still on crutches. He has at least another week on those things. It makes flying a kite a little challenging.
Walker decided being barefoot would be the optimal way to run around the street to fly his kite. LOL!
I’m pretty sure the Dad’s were having just as much fun as the kids. 😛
With so many kites so close together there were a few “problems”. Jared is quickly trying to un-knot the intertwined mass of string!

And then there are those darn trees that creep up on you and eat your kite! Hehehe!
The Birthday Boy didn’t want to be shown up so he pulled out his super cool dragon kite.
Looking good Dad!
Grandma saving the day with scissors. Did I mention there were a lot of collisions? 😛
The sky looked really cool with 8 or so kites flying in the air. (I unfortunately didn’t get a pic of all of them at the same time.) All of the neighbors came out into the street to see what our crazy family was up to. It was so much fun! 😀
We flew kites for hours. The weather was gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the company was great!
Happy Birthday Dad!!!
